Getting started
What does Pixeado do?
Pixeado finds the images that slow your store down and makes them lighter: resized, compressed, in their own format. It also adds alt texts and SEO file names, so search engines and screen readers understand your images.
How do I start?
Install Pixeado from the Shopify App Store. The app then reads your images and shows which ones are too large or too heavy and roughly what optimizing would save. Only then do you choose a plan.
Does the app slow down my store?
No. Pixeado works in your Shopify admin and adds no code to your store. Lighter images load faster.
Optimizing images
Does Pixeado change the order or the variant images?
No. Pixeado only replaces the content of the image file. The image stays the same: same position in the gallery, same variants, same links.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Before every change Pixeado saves the original. You bring it back in one click for up to 30 days after the last change to the image. If you have replaced an image in Shopify yourself in the meantime, Pixeado does not put the old original over it.
After optimizing many images at once, you undo the whole run in one click. Under Settings you bring back all originals at once.
What is the test run?
Before you optimize many images at once, you can test the settings on the three largest. You see before and after, then continue with the rest or undo the test.
Why does Pixeado not store my images as WebP?
Because Shopify already does it: your store serves every image as WebP or AVIF as soon as the browser supports it. A new format would also change the image's address.
So Pixeado does what really counts: it resizes and compresses the stored image. Every version served benefits. For other uses, download images as WebP.
Which images does Pixeado edit?
All product images in JPEG, PNG and WebP. With Premium also the images in the Files area (for example banners and the images in the text of your blog posts), collection images and the featured images of your blog posts.
Are new images optimized automatically?
With Plus, yes: when you upload a new product image, Pixeado optimizes it right after with your settings. With Premium this also applies to new images in Files, collections and blog posts, and a new image without alt text gets one right away: by AI from the image, also in other languages of your store if you choose them in the settings, otherwise from your template.
Alt texts and file names
Where do the alt texts come from?
From a template with product name and type, as many as you like, or written by AI from the image. Each month Free includes 10 AI alt texts, Plus 500 and Premium 2,000.
In the editor you check every suggestion before you save it.
Are alt texts translated into my store's languages too?
Yes. If your store has more languages, the editor shows a field per language under the alt text. Pixeado saves them as Shopify translations, exactly where Translate & Adapt keeps them. Visitors in another language, and Google, then get the alt text in their language.
The filter «Alt text not translated» shows you what is still missing. With Plus, the AI writes every language at once when you edit many images; each language counts as one AI alt text.
What happens when I change a file name?
The image gets a new address. Your product pages update themselves. Where the old address is linked directly, for example in a newsletter, the image goes missing. Pixeado warns you first, and you can reset it any time.
Can I edit alt texts in Excel?
Yes, with Premium. Export the list as CSV, edit it in Excel or Google Sheets and import it again. Pixeado shows you what changes first.
Plans and billing
How much does Pixeado cost?
Free costs nothing: check images and optimize them one by one. Plus costs $5.99 per month, Premium $9.99 per month. Paying yearly, you pay ten months and get twelve.
Is there a free trial?
You can try Plus and Premium free for 7 days each. During the trial you edit up to 50 images in bulk and use 50 AI alt texts with Plus, 100 images and 100 AI alt texts with Premium; single images without limit.
The trial and these limits count once per store: switching between Free, Plus and Premium does not start a second trial with new limits.
How do I pay and how do I cancel?
Billing runs entirely through Shopify, on your Shopify invoice. You change or cancel the plan in Pixeado under “Plan”. We never see your payment details.
What happens to my images if I cancel?
Images you already optimized stay in your store. Once the paid period ends, you optimize new images within Free: one at a time, without automatic optimizing and without the Plus and Premium features.
The originals stay saved for 30 days after the last change to an image and are then deleted. Download them under “Settings” first if you want to keep them longer. After uninstalling, we delete them as soon as Shopify asks us to (usually after 48 hours).
Privacy and security
Which data does Pixeado store?
Your store's address, the app's settings, details about your images and the saved originals. Pixeado does not read orders or customer data. More in the privacy policy.
Where do my images go for AI alt texts?
Only when you ask for an AI suggestion or turn on automatic alt texts for new images, the image is sent, scaled down, to an AI service provider. It does not use this data for training.
What happens to my data after uninstalling?
We delete all data of your store, including the saved originals, as soon as Shopify asks us to, usually after 48 hours. The optimized images stay in your store.
To keep the originals, download them first as a ZIP under Settings → Originals, or put them all back into your store there.
