Merchant data
When a store installs Pixeado, we store the store address (e.g. name.myshopify.com), the access token issued by Shopify and the app settings.
To optimize images, the app loads the store's product images (on the Premium plan also the images in the Files area and the collection images and the featured images of blog posts), processes them on our server and saves the new version in Shopify. So that every change can be undone, we keep the original as well as the file name and alt text before the change.
We do not store names or email addresses of store staff. The purpose is providing the app; the legal basis is the contract with the merchant (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
AI-assisted alt texts
Only when the merchant asks for an AI suggestion or turns on automatic alt texts for new images in the settings, Pixeado sends that image (scaled down to at most 768 pixels) together with the product title and product type, or the file name, to an AI service provider in the USA, which describes the image. In the editor the merchant checks the suggestion before saving; in bulk editing and for automatic alt texts the texts are saved directly and can be changed or reset at any time. If a product image shows a person, they are not identified.
The provider does not use this data to train its models and, according to the provider, deletes inputs and outputs within 30 days unless legal obligations or the enforcement of its usage policies require longer storage. The legal basis is the contract with the merchant (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); the transfer to the USA is based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Store customer data
Pixeado does not read orders or customer data from Shopify. Requests from a store's customers for access or deletion that Shopify forwards to us are answered accordingly: we hold no customer data.
Service providers
We use the following processors: Railway Corporation (running the app, database and storage of the originals, data centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands), Functional Software, Inc. “Sentry” (error monitoring, data centre in Frankfurt, Germany; only technical error reports with the store address, without IP addresses, images or customer data), Shopify (platform and plan billing) and, only for AI alt texts the merchant asks for or turns on, an AI service provider in the USA. Where data is transferred to the USA, this is based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
A store's data is kept as long as Pixeado is installed; saved originals of images are deleted 30 days after the last change to the image. After uninstalling, we delete all of the store's data, including the saved originals, as soon as Shopify asks us to (usually after 48 hours). The optimized images stay in the store.
So that the free trial does not start over with a reinstall, we then keep only a one-way check value (hash) of the store's address, how much of the trial was used and whether the store has paid before. The store cannot be read from it.
